Senate Ethics Committee Dismisses Complaint Against Senator Gallego

Background of the Complaint
Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) filed the complaint against Senator Gallego in April. The filing followed public allegations Luna made on social media.
In April, Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations. Gallego, a close friend of Swalwell, stated that their friendship may have clouded his judgment regarding Swalwell's behavior. Luna subsequently posted a message alluding to a senator, later confirming she was referring to Gallego.
Committee's Findings
In a letter dated June 26, the Senate Ethics Committee informed Representative Luna that it had dismissed the complaint. The letter stated the committee found "no evidence" of wrongdoing and acknowledged Gallego's cooperation with its review. The committee retains the authority to revisit the matter if additional facts become known.
Responses
Senator Gallego welcomed the dismissal and called the allegations "right-wing conspiracies." He also called for an apology from Representative Luna.
Representative Luna responded on social media, asserting that the allegations were not conspiracy theories. She did not apologize.
