Brisbane Broncos Player Josiah Karapani Facing Drink Driving Charges
BRISBANE – Brisbane Broncos player Josiah Karapani has been charged with drink driving following a traffic stop by Queensland Police on Sunday morning.
Karapani was allegedly traveling at 119 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the Pacific Motorway at MacGregor at approximately 7am on 28 June.
The 20-year-old was pulled over and subsequently taken to Holland Park Police Station for a breath analysis. The test returned a reading of 0.037% BAC.
As a provisional licence holder, Karapani is subject to a zero-blood alcohol concentration limit.
In addition to the drink driving charge, he received infringement notices for:
- Speeding
- Failure to display P plates
- Driving an unregistered vehicle
- Driving an uninsured vehicle
Club and NRL Response
The NRL Integrity Unit has been informed of the incident.
Karapani will not be available for NRL selection for the Round 18 game against the Sharks on Saturday night.
He has been issued a notice to appear in court on July 21 for the drink driving offence.
