Fatal Shooting in Biggera Waters: Woman Killed, Partner Charged with Murder

BIGGERA WATERS, QLD – On the evening of June 28, 2026, emergency services responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Loder Street. Police and paramedics arrived at approximately 8:00 p.m. following a call to Triple Zero from a neighbor.
Victim and Charges
Mallorie Jane Roberts, 23, was found at the scene with gunshot wounds. First responders provided medical assistance, but she was declared deceased at the location. Authorities stated that the cause of death was gunshot injuries to the arm and chest.
Ethan Midgley, 23, was arrested at the home and charged with domestic violence-related murder and unlawful possession of a weapon used to commit an indictable offence. Police recovered a homemade, unregistered firearm believed to be the weapon used in the incident.
Relationship and Investigation
Police confirmed that Roberts and Midgley were in a relationship and resided together at the address. Roberts' two-year-old son was not present at the residence at the time of the shooting.
Detective Acting Inspector Leia Urquhart stated that the scene was confronting and that neighbors and first responders attempted to save Roberts' life. Police confirmed they had previously attended the address, though no domestic violence order was in place. Urquhart noted that the background of the individuals is part of the ongoing investigation.
Legal Proceedings
Midgley was remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear in Southport Magistrates Court in July 2026.
