According to provisional data from the German Weather Service, the night of the report was Germany’s warmest since records began, with a low of 29.4°C recorded in Kubschütz, eastern Saxony. A provisional daytime high of 41.5°C was measured on July 12 at 16:20 in Möckern-Drewitz, Saxony-Anhalt.
Sunday Expected to Be Peak of the Heatwave
Sunday was expected to be the peak of the heatwave, with temperatures between 37 and 41°C. Local thunderstorms with torrential rain, hail, and gusty winds were possible into Monday night, when temperatures were forecast to fall to between 23 and 19°C.
Monday's highs were expected to reach only 27 to 31°C, with rain and isolated thunderstorms.
