Claims of Full Attendance Contradicted by Video Evidence
A recent social media post by President Donald Trump has been contradicted by video evidence and reporter observations.
On Thursday, Trump posted that "everybody stayed right until the end" of his speech at the Great American State Fair in Washington, DC. However, footage and firsthand accounts tell a different story.
"Everybody stayed right until the end of my Speech because they loved hearing about a truly successful America."
Evidence of Early Departures
A video published by The Bulwark captured dozens of attendees leaving the venue approximately 17 minutes into Trump's 28-minute address.
CNN senior correspondent Donie O'Sullivan reported observing "hundreds" of attendees heading toward the exits while the speech was still ongoing.
O'Sullivan noted that some attendees cited pre-speech flyovers as their primary reason for attending, while others mentioned personal obligations that required them to leave early.
It should be noted that most of the crowd did remain until the conclusion of the address.
Pattern of Claims
This is not an isolated incident. Trump has previously claimed during the 2024 presidential campaign that no one leaves his rallies early.
Reports from several major news organizations—including the Detroit Free Press, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Guardian—documented early departures at multiple campaign events in 2024:
