UFC Fight Night: Baku Delivers Thrilling Action
Main Event: Fiziev vs. Torres
Rafael Fiziev (14-5) defeated Manuel Torres (17-4) by TKO at 0:15 of the second round. The stoppage occurred after Fiziev landed a spinning wheel kick that staggered Torres, followed by a series of punches, prompting referee Marc Goddard to end the contest.
Prior to the fight, Fiziev had lost four of his previous five bouts. Torres had won five of his six UFC fights entering the event, with all of his wins occurring in the first round.
"I experienced double vision following a jab from Torres in the first round. The spinning wheel kick was a last resort."
— Rafael Fiziev
Fiziev's Post-Fight Comments
Rankings Criticism: Fiziev criticized the UFC's new Meta A.I. rankings system. He noted that the system did not include him in the top 15 of the lightweight division prior to his bout against Torres.
Motivation from Gaethje: Fiziev stated that he drew motivation from watching Justin Gaethje win the lightweight title at UFC Freedom 250.
"Justin, man, bro, you have no idea how much you motivated me... you gave me a lot of motivation because I didn't believe in myself so much."
— Rafael Fiziev
Fiziev, who has previously lost twice to Gaethje, indicated that Gaethje's performance helped him regain confidence.
Co-Main Event: Magomedov vs. Pereira
Shara Magomedov (13-1) defeated Michel Pereira (32-15, 2 NC) by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Pereira knocked down Magomedov in the first round and landed ground strikes. The referee issued a warning to Magomedov for pulling Pereira's hair during the round. Magomedov outlanded Pereira in volume over the subsequent two rounds.
