A bushfire in the City of Kalamunda has been extinguished.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) downgraded its bushfire warning to an advice level for areas within High Wycombe, Maida Vale, and Forrestfield, specifically those bordered by Milner Road, Maida Vale Road, Hawtin Road, and Sultana Road, on Wednesday evening at approximately 8:00 PM.
Fire crews are currently engaged in patrolling and mopping up operations in the affected region. According to a DFES spokesperson, the fire no longer poses a threat to lives or properties.
Incident Overview
The blaze was initially reported at approximately 2:05 PM. Response efforts involved up to 13 ground crews and one water bomber aircraft. The cause of the bushfire has not yet been determined.
Local Impact
Residents in High Wycombe were observed taking measures to protect their homes, including the use of buckets of water and activation of property roof sprinklers.
An evacuation centre established at the High Wycombe Community and Recreation Centre was subsequently closed.
Infrastructure
Several roads remain closed as a result of the incident, including Roe Highway between Berkshire Road and Kalamunda Road. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and utilize alternative routes.
