'Dawson's Creek' Star Pays Tribute to Late Co-Star on Father's Day
Mary-Margaret Humes honored her late Dawson's Creek co-star James Van Der Beek with a touching Father's Day tribute on Instagram, sharing a nostalgic throwback poster of the show's cast.
"My advice? Give big meaningful hugs and tell them you love them … a shout-out to simpler times."
The post featured the original cast poster, which included Humes, Van Der Beek, and John Wesley Shipp. Van Der Beek, a father of six, passed away in February at age 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer.
Humes had previously mourned his death in an emotional Instagram post, writing:
"Rarely am I at a loss for words … today would be the exception. James, my gracious warrior, you fought a hard battle against all odds with such quiet strength and dignity."
The heartfelt messages serve as a reminder of the lasting bonds formed on the beloved teen drama that aired from 1998 to 2003.
