Emaa Hussen Charged in Major Methamphetamine Importation Plot
A British actress has been charged for her alleged role in an attempt to import 320 kilograms of methamphetamine into Australia, with a street value of approximately $296 million.
Border Force officers at Port Botany in Sydney first detected anomalies in two shipping containers arriving from Ghana. Inside, they discovered a white crystalline substance concealed in bags of charcoal, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Investigation and Arrest
The consignment was delivered to a storage facility in Girraween, where law enforcement maintained surveillance. Hussen is accused of unpacking the drugs with other individuals and transporting them to a residence in Blacktown, where she was subsequently arrested.
At the Blacktown house, authorities found an additional 32 bags believed to have previously held the drugs. Electronic devices and a notebook were also seized for examination.
Hussen's Background
The actress previously appeared in an EastEnders spin-off and the film Redemption alongside Jason Statham.
Related Charges and Court Proceedings
An Adelaide couple, aged 30 and 32, were charged in April for their alleged involvement in the operation. They are due to appear in court in September.
Hussen remains in custody until her next court appearance in August.
