NASA has selected ARES Technical Services Corporation, based in McLean, Virginia, to provide launch range operations support at the agency's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
The Wallops Range Contract has a potential total value of $339.8 million. It includes a one-year base period, which is scheduled to commence on February 10, and four subsequent one-year option periods. If all options are exercised, the contract could extend until 2031. The contract is structured with a cost-plus-fixed-fee core, an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity component, and the capability to issue either cost-plus-fixed-fee or firm-fixed-price task orders.
Scope of Work
The services outlined in the contract include launch range operations support for various flight vehicles. This encompasses orbital and suborbital rockets, aircraft, satellites, balloons, and unmanned aerial systems. Specific support functions include:
- Radar services
- Telemetry services
- Logistics support
- Tracking services
- Communications services
Additional responsibilities involve information and computer systems services; the testing, modification, and installation of communications and electronic systems at launch facilities, launch control centers, and test facilities; and range technology sustainment engineering services.
Operational Locations
Work under this contract will primarily occur at NASA Wallops. Supplemental support will be provided at other locations, including the agency's Bermuda Tracking Station and the Poker Flat Research Range in Alaska, as well as other temporary duty sites as required.
