PopSockets Low-Pro Grip: A Slimmer Contender for Your Phone
A new phone grip aims to undercut the competition on thickness, but comes with a trade-off in magnetic strength.
PopSockets has launched the Low-Pro Grip, a new phone grip and stand that is thinner than the popular OhSnap Snap Grip 5. The device is available exclusively through Apple starting today for $39.99, with a wider release scheduled for July 29.
Key Features
The Low-Pro Grip measures just 2.6mm thick, compared to 2.5mm for the Snap Grip 4 and 3mm for the Snap Grip 5. It achieves this slim profile by using a one-piece polymer expansion layer that collapses completely flat.
The grip also doubles as a stand in both portrait and landscape orientations, thanks to a hinged metal ring. While it is compatible with magnetic wireless chargers, its magnets are weaker than those of the Snap Grip 5. During testing, the Low-Pro remained attached to the charger rather than the phone.
Comparison: Low-Pro vs. Snap Grip 5
The Low-Pro's soft material was described as more comfortable during prolonged use compared to the Snap Grip 5's interlocking arms. Additionally, the stand function on the Low-Pro offers multiple viewing angles, unlike the Snap Grip 5's single-angle design.
Availability
The Low-Pro Grip is available in four colors. It launches exclusively through Apple today, before becoming available on the PopSockets website and from other retailers starting July 29.
