Reddit Launches Video Comments for All Users
San Francisco, CA — Reddit announced on Thursday the launch of video comments for all users, expanding the platform's commenting capabilities. The feature allows users to upload or record a short-form video reply in the comments section of any post in public, safe-for-work communities.
Users can access the video option via a new icon in the comment box, positioned alongside existing tools for images and GIFs. This new functionality is designed to enhance user interaction without requiring a face reveal.
Videos in comments will not play automatically, ensuring a less disruptive browsing experience. To maintain community standards, Reddit's safety systems will review all video comments before they are posted.
Importantly, the feature does not require users to show their face. Videos can be pre-recorded content such as memes, offering flexibility for creative expression.
