One Nation Senator Defends 'Fire the Liar' Campaign After Albanese Questions Donation Total

Senator Sean Bell has pushed back against Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's skepticism over the party's latest fundraising drive, insisting the donations are real and verified.

"What occurred yesterday was a prime minister in denial. He was clearly rattled when he was asked about this, and he questioned the veracity."

Campaign Raises Over $2.7 Million

One Nation's "Fire the Liar" fundraising campaign, launched on Wednesday, has reportedly raised more than $2.7 million, according to the campaign website. The figure was met with doubt by Prime Minister Albanese, who questioned the accuracy of the reported amount.

Senator Bell told Sky News that Albanese's doubt indicated the prime minister is "in denial" about One Nation's growing influence and the level of public discontent with his leadership.

Independent Auditor Verifies Donations

Addressing concerns about the legitimacy of the fundraising total, Bell stated the party engaged an independent auditor to verify the claims. He asserted that donors are "real" and deeply dissatisfied with the prime minister's performance.

"So, what we did is we had an independent auditor just to verify those claims because people who've donated are real, and they're mad, they're mad at a bad prime minister because they've seen their standard of living collapse."

Bell's Recent Media Struggles

The senator's appearance on Sky News comes just days after he faced significant backlash over a series of interviews where he struggled to explain his party's policy on foreign ownership of Australian property.

A radio host described one of those interviews as "a train wreck," and Bell was subsequently removed from the program.
