A workaround has been identified that enables users running the macOS 27 Golden Gate developer beta to access Siri AI features without joining the official waitlist. Separately, a hidden "voice pad" interface for selecting Siri AI voices was discovered in the macOS 27 beta 4.
Early Access Workaround
According to a report by MacRumors, a Terminal command can bypass the waitlist for the new Siri AI features. The workaround is described as safe and reversible.
The steps to enable the features are as follows:
- Open the Terminal application.
- Enter the command:
sudo defaults write "/Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/GenerativeModels.plist" "EnhancedSiriWaitlist" -dict-add Enabled -bool NO - Restart the Mac.
Users are advised to run the beta on a test machine and maintain backups.
Enabled Features
After applying the workaround, users can access several Siri AI capabilities, including:
- Back-and-forth conversations with Siri via text or voice using the dedicated Siri app.
- Synchronized conversation history across devices via iCloud.
- Personal context understanding for searches across messages, emails, and photos.

- Integration into Spotlight and right-click context menus on Mac.
The Siri AI features are initially available only in English. The report notes that these features are not available on iPhone and iPad in the European Union due to Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations but remain accessible on Mac and Vision Pro.
Hidden Voice Pad Interface
A separate discovery, shared on a MacRumors forum post, details a hidden "voice pad" interface for selecting Siri AI voices found in macOS 27 beta 4. When enabled, the interface replaces the standard System Settings Siri voice menu with a dark canvas.
On this canvas, voices are represented by colored dots. Users can press and move a pointer to transition between colors and reveal dots. Spatial audio reportedly adjusts the clarity and perceived distance of voices based on cursor position.
The interface contains 13 voice slots arranged in a loose grid, suggesting support for up to 13 custom voices. The current beta lacks the necessary voice models, falling back to two custom voices. However, a system file describes 13 American English voices varying by gender, age, and character.
If finalized, this interface would replace the current voice options, which only include American English with sliders for expressiveness and pace. The interface is localized for 44 languages. It shares the same Siri setup framework as iOS 27, which indicates potential future availability on iPhone and iPad.
Enabling this hidden feature requires disabling System Integrity Protection (SIP) and using a debugger. The new Siri AI, powered by large language models, is expected to be released as part of iOS 27, macOS 27, and other software updates in September.
