General Motors 2025 Sales Performance
General Motors reported a 5.5% increase in its annual U.S. sales for 2025. This occurred despite a 6.9% decrease in sales during the fourth quarter of the same year. The yearly sales growth was supported by incremental electric vehicle (EV) sales and increased sales of large SUVs and entry-level vehicles, such as the Buick Envista.
U.S. Automotive Industry Overview
Cox Automotive estimated the U.S. automotive industry's total units sold for 2025 increased by approximately 2% compared to 2024, reaching 16.3 million units. General Motors' 2025 sales figures contribute to this broader industry data.
Other Automaker Performance
Several other automotive manufacturers also reported U.S. sales gains for 2025:
- Toyota Motor reported an 8% increase in sales.
- Hyundai achieved an 8.4% increase, marking its third consecutive year of record sales.
- Kia reported a 7% increase, also achieving its third consecutive year of record sales.
- Honda Motor's sales increased by 0.5%.
Conversely, Chrysler parent company Stellantis recorded a 3.3% decrease in sales as it implements a U.S. turnaround plan. Within Stellantis, the Jeep brand experienced an increase of less than 1%, which represents its first U.S. annual sales gain since 2018.
