Edward Jacob "Jake" Lang Arrested in Texas on Terroristic Threat Charge
Lang, 31, is being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Edward Jacob "Jake" Lang, 31, was arrested in Texas on June 2, 2026, on a charge of making a terroristic threat. He is being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Arrest Details
According to arrest documents, Lang was taken into custody after dining at Pizzeria Testa around 5 p.m. in the 8600 block of Church Street in Frisco, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Lang was also taken into custody after disembarking a flight in Dallas.
The charge involves allegations that the conduct disrupted or impaired public services, caused public fear, involved threats of serious bodily injury, or attempted to influence government operations. Authorities have not released further details about the specific nature of the alleged conduct.
Context of the Charge
Earlier on the day of the arrest, Lang was observed outside the Collin County Courthouse where protests were occurring related to the trial of Karmelo Anthony in connection with the death of Austin Metcalf.
Source reports indicate that the charge stems from photos and videos showing Lang outside the courthouse. Karmelo Anthony's family stated that Lang threatened to shoot Anthony in the head if he was not convicted.
In a video posted to his X account, a person claiming to be Lang stated that his arrest was for saying "if the jury did not find Karmelo Anthony guilty, that we the people will deal with justice." He characterized the charge as "lawfare" used to suppress a First Amendment protester. In a follow-up post, Lang said his bail was set at $1 million.
Prior Arrests
This is Lang's second arrest in North Texas in just over a week. He was arrested on June 2, 2026, on an active criminal trespass warrant stemming from an alleged incident in April 2025.
According to an affidavit, Lang was seen in a video posted to X appearing to show him inside Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, the site of a fatal stabbing during a high school track meet on April 2, 2025. In the video, Lang reportedly said he broke into the stadium and needed to leave before police arrived. He also admitted to climbing a fence to enter the facility. Police said the warrant was related to an alleged trespassing incident at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center in Frisco. He was booked into Collin County Jail on June 2 and later released.
In March 2026, Lang was charged in Ramsey County, Minnesota, with first-degree property damage for allegedly damaging a "Prosecute ICE" ice sculpture at the Minnesota State Capitol. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint, advocacy group Common Defense commissioned the sculpture for $6,250 and obtained a permit to display it on Capitol grounds.
Federal Case
Lang was previously arrested in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He was indicted on 11 federal counts but was pardoned by President Trump before trial.
Karmelo Anthony Case
Witnesses said a confrontation between two teens began during a regional track meet at Kuykendall Stadium. Anthony, a student at Centennial High School, was seated under the Memorial High School team tent when Metcalf, a Memorial student, reportedly told him to leave. Investigators said there was no evidence the two knew each other before the incident.
An arrest report states Anthony was later located by a school resource officer. Officers ordered him to keep his hands raised. "I was protecting myself," Anthony said, according to the officer's statement. He also said, "He put his hands on me." The report states Anthony later said, "I'm not alleged. I did it," after officers referred to him as the alleged suspect. He also asked officers whether the victim would be okay and whether the incident could be considered self-defense. Anthony was initially held on a $1 million bond, later reduced to $250,000.
Karmelo Anthony was convicted of murder on June 2, 2026.
Reactions
Andrew Anthony, the father of Karmelo Anthony, expressed feeling "somewhat relieved" by the arrest but noted the family faces a long journey, as they continue to receive racially charged death threats.
Jeff Metcalf, Austin Metcalf's father, said publicly that he forgives Anthony.
