Wave of Violence Across Sydney
A series of unrelated violent incidents across Sydney has left multiple people injured, including a police officer, with authorities investigating possible organized crime links.
Shooting After Brawl in Chester Hill
Police responded to reports of a physical altercation involving about 15 individuals on Boundary Road in Chester Hill at approximately 10:30 PM on Thursday. All parties had left the scene before officers arrived.
Shortly after, officers identified a black sedan on Ferndell Street in Guildford. A pursuit was initiated after the driver operated the vehicle dangerously and refused to stop. When the vehicle finally stopped, police discovered a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old man inside—both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Reports indicate the two men are brothers.
"At least three shots were fired," said NSW Police Detective Acting Inspector Kaan McGregor, adding that both injured men are known to police with suspected ties to organized crime.
Authorities believe the brawling groups had arranged to meet. The cause of the violence remains under investigation.
Paramedics transported the injured men to a hospital. The younger man has been discharged, while the older man underwent surgery on Friday. The driver of the sedan was questioned by police and released.
Drive-By Shootings at Three Homes

- 10:45 PM – Clarence Street, Merrylands
- 10:45 PM (nearby) – Lockwood Street, Merrylands
- 11:00 PM – Monash Street, Wentworthville
NSW Police Superintendent Simon Glasser stated that all three locations are known to police for links to organized crime. Three people were inside the Wentworthville home; the two Merrylands properties were unoccupied at the time.
Police are seeking the driver of a white Hyundai sedan seen fleeing from the Wentworthville home, with at least two, possibly three, people in the vehicle.
Boxer Shot, Police Officer Assaulted at Hospital
At approximately 11:30 PM on Wednesday, emergency services were called to Campbell Hill Road in Chester Hill following reports of shots fired from one vehicle into another. Both vehicles left before police arrived.
At 11:35 PM, a 26-year-old man—identified as boxer Humzah Khalid—arrived at Auburn Hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg. He was later transferred to another hospital. Officers located a Mercedes with bullet holes in the hospital parking lot.
Detective Superintendent Rod Hart stated the shooting "does have all the hallmarks of a gangland hit," noting both men are known to police and Khalid has known organized crime links.
Khalid and a 30-year-old friend were sitting in a car when multiple shots were fired from a black utility vehicle. The 30-year-old driver transported Khalid to the hospital.
While at the hospital, police allege the 30-year-old man repeatedly punched a 58-year-old chief inspector in the head. The inspector sustained lacerations. The 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty.

The vehicle's windshield had multiple bullet holes.
The 39-year-old officer sustained injuries to his lower leg and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
At approximately 9:15 PM, police responded to Thorn Street in Ryde after reports of a man with a gunshot wound walking along the street. A stolen Toyota was located nearby. A 32-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds and transported to a hospital in stable condition. He remains under police guard and will face charges.

A teenager was hospitalized in critical condition following a stabbing. Multiple knives have been confiscated.
