No charges have been filed in an alleged assault involving Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto and a 28-year-old man on Magnetic Island.
Incident
An alleged assault occurred at a venue in Nelly Bay on Sunday afternoon. Police received a report of a fight between the 42-year-old mayor and the other man, though officers were not called to the scene at the time. No charges have been filed.
Investigation
Police are asking anyone with information or footage to come forward. Mayor Dametto stated he will make no further comment on the matter.
Context
Mayor Dametto was visiting Magnetic Island on Sunday as part of a pub crawl organized by a local tourism operator. LNP Member for Townsville Adam Baillie and his staff were also in the group. Mr. Baillie declined to comment.
