Mohammed Skaf Arrested and Charged with Directing Drug Trafficking Syndicate

View source

A man who served more than 20 years for the gang rape of six schoolgirls has been arrested again, this time on charges of directing a drug syndicate in Sydney.

Mohammed Skaf, 42, was taken into custody on Wednesday night at Greenacre, charged with 24 offenses including supplying prohibited drugs, knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime, and directing the activities of a criminal group.

Police seized almost $250,000 in cash, as well as cocaine, MDMA, and several mobile phones from a vehicle, his home, and a nearby park.

Two alleged associates were also arrested and charged as runners for Skaf: John Harvard (also known as Ahmed Warwar) and Winter Egitmeglu. Authorities say they seized drugs, a baton, and a ballistic vest from their properties.

Skaf has been remanded in custody and is expected to apply for bail on Friday. His lawyer declined to comment.

Background

Skaf served over 20 years of a 23-year sentence for the gang rapes of six schoolgirls in 2000. He was released on parole in October 2021 under strict conditions, including electronic monitoring, which expired in January 2024.

The arrests stem from Strike Force Earley, established in March to investigate large-scale cocaine and drug supply in south-west Sydney. Detective Chief Inspector Jeffrey Walsh alleged Skaf was the principal director of the syndicate. Investigations are ongoing.
