Athletissima Lausanne: Tebogo vs. Gout Gout Headline Set for 21 August

The Wanda Diamond League meeting Athletissima in Lausanne, scheduled for 21 August, will feature a highly anticipated men's 200m race between Letsile Tebogo and Gout Gout.

The world’s fastest teenager meets the Olympic champion in a rematch for the ages.

Background and Previous Meetings

Letsile Tebogo won the Olympic 200m title in Paris with an African record of 19.46 seconds. He previously recorded a time of 19.64 seconds at the Lausanne meeting in 2023.

Gout Gout set a world U20 record of 19.67 seconds in April 2025. The 18-year-old previously faced Tebogo in the semi-finals of the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, where Tebogo won the race.

Women's 800m

The women's 800m event is also scheduled for the Lausanne meeting. Audrey Werro ran 1:53.98 in Stockholm on 8 June, which ranks as the third-fastest time in history for the event. Werro is scheduled to compete in Lausanne, where she will run in front of a home crowd.
