Hyundai is preparing to introduce its first Chinese-built model, the Elexio electric SUV, to the Australian market. This mid-size electric vehicle is scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2026.
Pricing and Position
The Elexio Elite, offered in a single variant, is priced at $59,990 drive-away for both private and fleet purchasers as part of an introductory offer. This positions the Elexio between the Kona Electric, which is priced at $59,990 drive-away for its top-spec Premium trim until March 31, and the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5's entry-level variant has been discontinued, with its base price increasing by $6400 to $76,200 before on-road costs.
Dimensions and Platform
Measuring 4615mm in length, the Elexio is marginally shorter than the Ioniq 5. Its wheelbase is 2750mm, which is 250mm shorter than the Ioniq 5's. Cargo capacity is 506L with the rear seats upright, 19 litres less than the Ioniq 5. The Elexio features a taller, more upright body design.
The Elexio utilizes a version of Hyundai Motor Company’s E-GMP platform, incorporating a 400V electrical system. Hyundai Australia has developed a specific local suspension and steering tune for the Elexio, a customization not applied to all its Korean-sourced vehicles. This tuning was developed by engineers from Hyundai Motor Company in collaboration with the Australian chassis tuning team in Sydney, involving evaluation of various suspension components.
Infotainment System
The Elexio will be the first Hyundai model in Australia to feature the brand's new Connect-C infotainment system. This system is presented on a 27-inch, ultra-thin 4K panoramic display.

The Elexio will be available with a single powertrain configuration:

It also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing power for small electrical appliances via an interior outlet.

Warranty and Servicing
The Hyundai Elexio includes a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty. Capped-price servicing details have not yet been released.
