L'Jarius Sneed Returns to Kansas City on One-Year Deal
Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed has agreed to a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs worth up to $5 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Sneed visited the Chiefs late last week, and the visit led to the agreement, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
A Familiar Face Returns
The Chiefs originally drafted Sneed in the fourth round (138th overall) of the 2020 NFL draft. Over four seasons with Kansas City, he started 54 regular-season games and 13 postseason games, playing a key role in the team’s Super Bowl LVII and LVIII victories.
One of Sneed’s most memorable plays was forcing a goal-line fumble on Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers in the 2023 AFC Championship Game.
A Brief Stint in Tennessee
After the 2023 season, the Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Sneed and later traded him to the Tennessee Titans. He signed a four-year, $76 million contract but played only 12 games due to injuries. The Titans released him on March 13, 2025.
The New-Look Cornerback Room
Sneed’s return adds veteran experience to a Chiefs cornerback corps that includes:
- Rookies: Mansoor Delane, Jadon Canady
- Second-year player: Nohl Williams
- Veterans: Kristian Fulton, Kaiir Elam
The Chiefs must make a corresponding roster move to officially sign Sneed.
