French citizens Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris have been released from detention in Iran. The pair, who were arrested in May 2022, are currently at the French embassy in Tehran.
Release Confirmed
On Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the release of Cécile Kohler, 41, and Jacques Paris, 72. France's foreign minister later confirmed that the individuals were at the French embassy in Tehran, ahead of their return to France.
Kohler and Paris had been detained in Evin prison since their arrest in May 2022 during a tourist trip to Iran.
Ongoing Dialogue
President Macron stated that dialogue would continue to facilitate their return to France. The two individuals are believed to be the final French nationals held in Iran.
