IDF Reveals Hezbollah Drone Struck Top General’s Vehicle in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces disclosed on Thursday that a Hezbollah drone struck the personal command vehicle of Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo, head of the IDF Northern Command, while he was visiting sub-commanders in southern Lebanon.

Milo was unharmed because he had left the vehicle shortly before the attack to meet with other commanders.

The incident occurred within the last couple of weeks, according to the IDF. Officials stated that the attack will not affect the latest ceasefire announcement.

A Near-Catastrophic Loss

If Milo had been harmed, he would have become the highest-ranked Israeli commander killed during the war. Previously, the highest-ranked killed commanders were colonels, and the highest-ranked wounded commander was a brigadier general.

The IDF Northern Command chief is considered a potential future IDF chief, with only the deputy chief ranking above him.

Security Protocols Under Review

In response to the incident, security regulations for top IDF and political officials visiting the Lebanon front are expected to become stricter.

The attack underscores the persistent threat posed by Hezbollah drone operations, even against high-value targets.
