Google Labs Launches Dreambeans: A Personal AI Storyteller for Your Morning

A New AI-Powered App Arrives
Google Labs has unveiled Dreambeans, a new mobile app for iOS and Android that leverages "Personal Intelligence." The app generates a daily, curated set of "stories" based on a user’s data from connected Google services—including Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, and Search History—all with explicit user permission.

"The dream part is literal, because while you sleep, the app is working through everything across your connected apps." — Gozde Oznur, Product Lead

How It Works
Dreambeans processes user data overnight. Each morning, it delivers a limited number of stories—typically 10 to 14—designed to provide inspiration and practical lifestyle suggestions.

  • Geographical recommendations based on your location history.
  • Insights tied to calendar events, such as reminders or related articles.
  • News articles curated from your past interests.

The "Doomscrolling Antidote"
Gozde Oznur, the product lead, explained the app’s core purpose: to offer a deliberate alternative to endless scrolling. By limiting the daily output to a small, concentrated set of stories, Dreambeans encourages users to engage with real-life activities rather than consuming an infinite feed.

Privacy Protections
Google emphasizes user control. Key privacy features include:

  • Exclusive access: Only the user can view their generated stories.
  • Data deletion: Users can delete their data at any time.
  • Service control: Users can choose which Google services are connected.

About the Name
The name "Dreambeans" is a combination of two concepts: the overnight data processing ("dream") and the morning delivery, which the team likens to starting your day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee ("beans").

Availability
Dreambeans is currently available only for eligible U.S.-based Google AI Ultra subscribers on both Android and iOS. A waitlist is open for users with a personal Google account who wish to be notified when broader access becomes available.
