Three Hospitalised After Home Invasion and Stabbing in Rural NSW
Torrington, NSW — Emergency services were called to a rural property in Torrington, approximately 65 kilometers southwest of Tenterfield, in the early hours of the morning following reports of a home invasion.
The incident has left a 75-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman in critical condition, while a 34-year-old alleged intruder is under police guard with a gunshot wound.
According to police, a 34-year-old man allegedly broke into the home and stabbed both residents with a knife. The woman sustained a chest wound and collapsed, while her husband received a slash wound to his abdomen but was able to call Triple Zero.
The younger man was reportedly shot by the resident as he attempted to re-enter the house.
All three individuals received medical treatment at the scene. The elderly couple were airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital in critical condition. The younger man, treated for a gunshot wound, was transported by road ambulance to Armidale Hospital under police guard and is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Police have established a crime scene and stated that initial inquiries indicate the younger man was not known to the couple.
