"McEwen reported the incident to the club at the time the incident occurred and the club reported the matter to the NRL Integrity Unit."
The Newcastle Knights have referred an incident involving player Jermaine McEwen to the NRL Integrity Unit after he was reportedly charged by police with drink-driving and driving with a suspended licence.
The club released a statement on Wednesday, confirming awareness of the incident but not specifying further details.
"Until due process is completed, the Knights will not make any further comment," the Knights said.
McEwen, 21, is scheduled to face court on June 25. He recently signed a contract extension tying him to the Knights until at least the end of 2028.
It is unclear if he will be withdrawn from this weekend's match against the Storm.
