God of War Laufey Announced at State of Play

During a recent State of Play showcase, Sony officially revealed God of War Laufey, a new title developed by Santa Monica Studio. The game is confirmed for release on PS5, though a specific launch date has not yet been announced.

Gameplay and Characters

Players will step into the role of Faye (also known as Laufey), who was previously featured in God of War Ragnarök. The gameplay shifts focus to aerial combat and magic.

Key allies include a flying six-legged cat and a talking gelatinous cube named Phranque who assists the player.

Deborah Ann Woll reprises her role as Faye, bringing the character back to life.

The voice cast also includes:

  • Jack Quaid as Phranque
  • Perlina Lau as Rue, sentient ribbons attached to Faye's sword.

A Shift in Perspective

The announcement highlights a significant departure from previous games centered on male protagonists, with the new title featuring a female lead for the first time in the main series.
