Google Photos has introduced a new scheduling option for data exports through Google Takeout, designed to simplify the process of backing up your media.
The new feature is called "Incremental Takeout for Photos."
The first scheduled export will include your entire selected library. However, subsequent exports will only include content that has been uploaded, created, or edited since the last successful export. This ensures you’re only moving the data that has changed, saving time and bandwidth.
Only the first export requires the full library; every follow-up export is an incremental backup of new and edited content.
Users can schedule exports to occur every two months for up to one year. File sizes for each export are capped at 50 GB.
To access the feature, go to Google Takeout and select only Photos as an export option. The scheduling settings will then appear in the export configuration menu.
