Eagles Stockpile Future Assets, Acquire 2028 First-Round Pick

Philadelphia, PA – Eagles general manager Howie Roseman continues to balance a win-now mentality with long-term roster construction, recently acquiring a 2028 first-round draft pick. The move gives the Eagles two selections in the first round of the 2028 draft, with the newly acquired pick's final position ranging from 1 to 32.

Roseman noted these picks can be used in future trades, providing the team with significant flexibility in upcoming negotiations.

Offseason Receiver Additions

Following the departure of star wideout A.J. Brown, the Eagles moved aggressively to reshape their receiving corps during the offseason. The team bolstered its depth by:

  • Signing free agents Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore
  • Trading for Dontayvian Wicks
  • Selecting Makai Lemon in the first round of the draft

These new additions, combined with returning players including DeVonta Smith, are expected to collectively fill the void left by Brown's exit.

Roseman's Statement

On the team's receiver outlook, Roseman offered a detailed assessment:

"Obviously, here, we're very early on, building our team for 2026. We have a lot of confidence in DeVonta Smith, always have. I think he's just a really, really, really good player, excited for him to continue to improve and shine as a player. I have a lot of confidence in that, obviously."

"We took a receiver in the first round. I have a lot of confidence in that player. We traded for Wicks. I feel like the guy's a really talented player who knows the offense, was with our coaches. We signed Hollywood, who's shown improvement over time, that he has a trait (speed), an elite trait. And then we got a bunch of other receivers here who early in camp are looking good and we'll have competition throughout that position like every other position."

"But, there's no doubt that A.J. Brown was a huge, huge part of our football team, a great player for us, and that loss will have to be picked up by more than just one player."
