Knesset Speech: MK Porush Warns of Haredi Cooperation Suspension with Police
"If arrests do not cease, the Haredi public will not cooperate with police."
Speaking before the Knesset plenum, MK Yitzhak Porush (United Torah Judaism) leveled sharp criticism at the Israel Police over the arrest of yeshiva students. He cited a letter from Meir Rubinstein, chairman of the Forum of Haredi Local Authorities, which announced a suspension of cooperation between Haredi municipalities and the police.
Key Statements
Porush said the local authority heads sent a "red warning sign" to the Police Commissioner, involving the potential cancellation of cooperation. He claimed the police have become the enforcement arm of the Attorney General, whom he accused of inflaming tensions.
He argued that police focus on Torah scholars instead of crime, calling this a "distorted reality." Porush stated that if arrests do not cease, the Haredi public will not cooperate with police. He urged the Commissioner to change course before it is too late.
