Samsung quietly removes Lockdown button from power menu in One UI 9 beta

Samsung's One UI 9 beta, based on Android 17, introduces a significant change to how the Lockdown feature works. The dedicated "Lockdown" button has been removed from the power menu.

Under the new system, lockdown mode is activated automatically when the power menu is dismissed. Once engaged, the phone locks immediately and disables all biometric authentication methods, including fingerprint and facial recognition. To unlock the device, users must enter their PIN, pattern, or password.

The "Lockdown" button has been replaced by a "Medical info" option in the power menu.

Previously, users had to manually tap the Lockdown button to activate it. The new approach eliminates this step, automating the process to occur every time the power menu is closed.

Lockdown mode now engages automatically when the power menu is dismissed, removing the need for a manual button.

This change is currently present in One UI 9 beta 2. It has not yet been confirmed whether the update will carry over to the stable release of the software.
