Las Vegas Teen Arrested After Stabbing Three Horses at Barrel Racing Event

LAS VEGAS – A teenage girl was arrested on May 30 after allegedly stabbing three horses at a barrel racing event in Las Vegas.

The attack occurred at the National Barrel Horse Association's Professional's Choice Las Vegas Super Show, held at the South Point Casino. The suspect, who has not been identified, faces 12 counts of animal cruelty and three counts of felony malicious destruction of property over $5,000.

The horses sustained multiple knife wounds but are not in life-threatening condition, though they were unable to compete as a result of the attack.

The suspect was found at a nearby hotel and taken to Clark County Juvenile Hall. The National Barrel Horse Association confirmed the individual was a competitor and has been removed from the event.

Authorities stated there is no ongoing threat.
