Australia's men's sevens team has won the HSBC SVNS World Championship Series title in Valladolid, defeating South Africa 26-19 in a gripping final.

Trailing 14-0 within the first three minutes, Australia mounted a determined comeback to secure the victory. South Africa opened the scoring through Shilton van Wyk and Sebastiaan Jobb, putting the Australians on the back foot early.

Australia responded with tries from James Turner and Ethan McFarland, bringing the score level by halftime.

In the second half, Ben Dowling and Henry Hutchison crossed the line to give Australia a 10-point lead.

South Africa's Gino Cupido scored a late try, but a forward pass prevented a potential equalizer, sealing the win for Australia.
