Three national seeds were eliminated on Day 3, including No. 1 overall seed UCLA, as a No. 4 seed made a historic run to the super regionals.

The third day of the 2026 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament featured multiple upsets, including the elimination of three national seeds and a historic run by a No. 4 seed. Results from regionals across the country on Saturday and Sunday reshaped the field ahead of super regional play.

Los Angeles Regional

No. 1 UCLA Eliminated by Saint Mary's

In a dramatic finish at Jackie Robinson Stadium, No. 4 Saint Mary's defeated No. 1 UCLA 6-5 in 10 innings on Sunday. Saint Mary's tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Ian Armstrong. In the 10th, with two outs, Cody Kashimoto singled, advanced on a groundout, and scored on a walk-off single by Makoa Sniffen. Saint Mary's reliever David Roberts retired the Bruins in order in the 10th.

UCLA, the No. 1 overall seed and Big Ten champions, had led 5-4 in the ninth and was one out from advancing to the regional final. According to reports, UCLA had won 78 consecutive games when leading after the eighth inning before this loss. The Bruins finished the season with a 52-8 record.
