"More than 5,000 homes are without power in the state's South West region."
Severe Weather Causes Widespread Damage and Power Outages Across WA
Strong winds continue to lash parts of Western Australia, with emergency services and power crews stretched thin as they respond to hundreds of calls for help.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services reported approximately 50 calls to the State Emergency Service overnight. These related to water ingress, flooding, roof damage, structural damage, and fallen trees.
Power Grid Hit Hard
Western Power reported over 2,000 homes without power in the suburbs of Langford, Lynwood, and Ferndale. Crews were also dispatched to assess an outage affecting 2,134 customers in Hamilton Hill, Coolbellup, and Samson.
In the northern suburbs, a fallen tree on a power line caused an outage for over 1,000 customers in Dianella.
The most significant impact is being felt in the state's South West region, where more than 5,000 homes are currently without power.
Weather Outlook
Forecasters warn that the hazardous conditions are not over yet. Strong winds are expected to continue into Monday, raising the potential for further damage and disruptions.
