Multiple Reports Detail Potential Camera and Display Changes for Future Samsung Galaxy Smartphones

View source

Some details about future Samsung Galaxy phones have surfaced, though the company has not confirmed any of them.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera System

According to Chinese tipster SmartPikachu, the Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature a triple-camera setup comprised of a primary 200-megapixel sensor (possibly the ISOCELL HP6), a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto offering 5x optical zoom.

A variable aperture system could return, allowing the camera to adjust its lens opening for optimal shots in both bright and low-light conditions. This technology, seen on the Galaxy S9 and S10, may now offer more than two aperture settings.

The primary camera may also include LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology, which pairs a capacitor with pixels to capture data when light exceeds a pixel's capacity, resulting in a wider dynamic range.

Perhaps the most significant change would be the removal of the 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a staple since the Galaxy S22 Ultra. This could free up space for other components, such as magnets for Qi2.x wireless charging, with the device potentially relying on crop-based zoom from the primary sensor.

Separate rumors suggest the front-facing camera may receive a 3D face-scanning upgrade for improved security.

Contrasting Report on Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera

A separate claim from tipster Ice Universe offers a different view, stating the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature new sensors for the primary, ultra-wide, and front-facing cameras. However, this source reports the telephoto camera will remain the same as the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Galaxy S26 Series Production and Display

Production plans for parts of the Galaxy S26 series have reportedly begun.

  • Display: The Galaxy S26+ is rumored to feature a 6.66-inch display, consistent with its predecessor.
  • Lineup Changes: The anticipated Galaxy S26 Edge has been removed from the lineup, with the Galaxy S26+ being reinstated to fill the middle-tier slot between the base and Ultra models.
  • Production Prioritization: According to TheElec, mass production for the Galaxy S26+ is set to begin this month, following the Ultra model's start last month. Production targets heavily favor the S26 Ultra, with 3.6 million units planned, compared to just over half a million for both the S26+ and the base S26.
  • Display Panel: A source claims the decision was made to include a display similar to the one seen in early 2025 for the S26+, rather than an improved OLED display considered for the now-canceled S26 Edge, with a short development period cited as a reason for minimal changes.
