A pedestrian in his 60s was seriously injured after a vehicle mounted a footpath in North Beach, Perth, on Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle is assisting police with their investigation.

At approximately 11:15 AM on Saturday, a white Ford Ranger ute lost control on West Coast Drive near Malcolm Street in North Beach. According to police, the vehicle first collided with a blue Holden Frontera station wagon before mounting the footpath and striking a pedestrian. The impact knocked over a light pole and damaged a wall. The pedestrian was thrown over a limestone retaining wall into nearby bushes. The Ford Ranger came to a stop in the southbound lane of the road.
Casualties and Response
- The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was treated at the scene by emergency services before being transported to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.
- Two doctors and a nurse provided initial medical aid to the pedestrian.

Witness Account
Witness Mandy Thompson reported hearing a loud noise and seeing the Ford Ranger hit a light pole. She stated she assisted a woman who was looking for her husband and helped locate the pedestrian in the bushes.
Separate Incident
In an unrelated incident, Major Crash investigators are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man died when his car hit a tree on Orrong Road in Welshpool just before 11 PM on Friday. A 20-year-old female passenger was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
