Two Houses Damaged in Clontarf Fire; Emergency Declaration Temporarily Issued

Emergency services responded to a house fire in Clontarf, a suburb north of Brisbane, on Saturday afternoon. The blaze spread from the original property to an adjacent house, resulting in damage to two homes.

No injuries were reported.

Incident Timeline

At approximately 2:10 PM, the Queensland Police Service issued an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA). Emergency services were dispatched to Weaber Street at around 2:15 PM.

The PSPA declaration was revoked at 4:19 PM the same day.

Emergency Response

At least ten fire crews were deployed to contain the flames. Paramedics were present at the scene.

The exclusion zone established under the declaration included the following streets:

  • Watson Street
  • Isobel Street
  • Enoch Street
  • Gerald Avenue
  • Wendy Crescent
  • Bright Avenue
  • Cornelius Street

Residents within the exclusion zone were instructed to remain indoors with windows closed. Individuals in the immediate area were evacuated. The public was advised to avoid the area and follow directions from police.

Cause

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
