Lil' Kim Makes Triumphant Return to Australia After 15 Years

The legendary rapper headlined a Vivid Sydney show at Carriageworks, celebrating her influential early albums.

SYDNEY, AU – Hip-hop icon Lil' Kim performed at Carriageworks in Sydney as part of the Vivid Sydney lineup, marking her first Australian performance in 15 years. The show was promoted as a celebration of her landmark albums Hard Core (1996) and The Notorious K.I.M. (2000).

Performance Highlights

The setlist spanned her entire catalog, reaching far beyond the two celebrated albums. Despite the breadth of material, the stage time was a tight one hour.

The stage was energized by four dancers and two bodyguards, creating a high-impact visual production. Lil' Kim delivered shortened versions of her hits and dedicated time to interact directly with the audience, keeping the energy personal and electric.

A notable moment came when singer Tayy Brown, introduced by Lil' Kim as her husband, performed during the set. The evening also featured a powerful opening set from Barkaa before Lil' Kim took the stage.

The Crowd

The audience was a diverse mix, ranging in age from 19 to 37. Many attendees reported listening to Lil' Kim in their youth, and the response was overwhelmingly enthusiastic throughout the performance.

The Legacy

Lil' Kim's debut album Hard Core was produced under the mentorship of The Notorious B.I.G. Both Hard Core and The Notorious K.I.M. are considered foundational, influential works in hip-hop.
