From Buckets to Viral Fame: The Beat Street Drummers

A quintet of teenagers from Tauranga, New Zealand, has taken the internet by storm—using nothing more than plastic buckets from a hardware store.

Since March 2025, The Beat Street Drummers have amassed over one million social media followers and more than 100 million views for their inventive percussion videos.

The Group

The band consists of five young musicians:

  • Elliot Laurie (14)
  • Tristan Sparks (15)
  • Daniel Moore (17)
  • Noah Stuart (18)
  • Lucas Shepherd (18)

The group met through school music classes eight years ago and officially formed about five years ago. They now practice once a week, performing covers and improvisations.

Breakthrough Moment

Their cover of Sigma and Paloma Faith's "Changing" became a phenomenon, racking up over 22.3 million views on Instagram. The track's original artist, Sigma, publicly praised the performance.

The group has also performed at festivals and even opened for a Chiefs professional rugby game.

A Brotherhood with Buckets

Noah Stuart described the sudden fame as "a bit of a shock." Daniel Moore emphasized the group's chemistry, noting they share a "brotherhood" dynamic.

"Buckets are cheap and accessible," the teenagers point out, encouraging others to try drumming with everyday objects.

What started as a simple idea has become a global sensation—proving that talent doesn't require expensive equipment.
