Nintendo Switch 2 Sees Promotional Push for Memorial Day, But Price Cuts Remain Elusive

Despite high demand driving strong sales, major retailers are focusing on bundles and accessories rather than direct price reductions for the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.

Retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop have launched promotional campaigns for Nintendo Switch 2 during the early Memorial Day shopping window. Direct console price cuts remain limited due to high demand; instead, retailers are offering bundles, software discounts, and accessory markdowns.

Hardware Bundles

Many retailers offer "Choose Your Game" bundles priced around $499. Customers can select a title such as Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bonanza, or Pokémon Pokopia. Savings are modest and bundled rather than applied to the console price.

Software Discounts

Price reductions are more aggressive on games, including older Nintendo Switch titles and some newer releases compatible with Switch 2. Examples include Persona 5 Royal, Super Mario RPG, Metroid Prime Remastered, Yakuza 0, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Stray, and Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, with some promotions pricing games below $20.

Accessory Discounts

Accessory discounts are the deepest. Promotions cover gaming headsets, third-party controllers, carrying cases, docks, charging accessories, microSD cards, and cooling fans. Brands like SteelSeries are mentioned prominently in these deals.

Demand Remains High

Nintendo Switch 2 demand remains strong, attributed to first-party exclusives, backward compatibility with enhanced performance, and the platform's popularity. Analysts suggest major console price cuts are unlikely this year.
