Vance Responds to Pope's AI Encyclical

Vice President JD Vance offered his perspective on a new Vatican document regarding artificial intelligence during an interview with NBC News on Tuesday.

"I have read excerpts and summaries of the document, which I find profound," Vance said.

The Vice President, who is Catholic, emphasized that while core moral principles remain constant, their practical application must evolve. "Moral principles do not change, but their application must adapt to changing circumstances, such as new technology," Vance noted. He added that this is precisely the work the pope appears to be doing.

Vance stated that the Trump administration's goal is to balance innovation in AI with the protection of data and privacy.

The pope's message, as described in the encyclical, urges developers and companies working on artificial intelligence to prioritize the common good over profit.
