A woman died on Saturday night after being struck in the neck by a table umbrella that was lifted by a strong gust of wind at a restaurant in Summerton, South Carolina.

The Incident

The fatal incident occurred at the Driftwood Grill, where the woman, identified as Dana Weinger, was dining on the patio with her husband. A sudden strong gust of wind caused the umbrella to become loose and airborne, striking Weinger and causing serious lacerations to her throat.

Emergency responders arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but she was tragically declared dead at the scene.
