Astros No-Hit Rangers, 9-0, in Historic Combined Effort
The Houston Astros made history on Monday night, blanking the Texas Rangers 9-0 on the strength of a combined no-hitter—the 327th in MLB history and the 22nd combined no-hitter ever thrown.
Astros starter Tatsuya Imai set the tone, pitching six innings without allowing a hit, striking out two and walking four. He was followed by relievers Steven Okert, who tossed one inning with one strikeout and one walk, and Alimber Santa, who closed out the game with two hitless innings and one strikeout.
This marks the fourth combined no-hitter in Astros history, adding to a franchise legacy of 18 total no-hitters. As of the game, the Astros now hold a 24-31 record, placing them four games behind the American League West-leading Oakland Athletics (27-26).
Houston has been heating up, winning four consecutive games and eight of their last twelve.
