Jason Voorhees Slashes His Way into Dead by Daylight This June

Developer Behaviour Interactive has announced that Jason Voorhees, the iconic antagonist from the Friday the 13th film series, will be added to Dead by Daylight as a playable character. The update is scheduled for release on June 17, 2025, in Australia, though one source indicates a release date of May 26.

Announcement and Details

A teaser video for the character has been released. A livestream showcasing the new killer is planned for June 15, 2025, in Australia. No specific details regarding the character's abilities or associated content have been provided.

Background

Jason Voorhees has previously appeared in several video games, including MultiVersus, Mortal Kombat X, and the now-discontinued asymmetrical horror title Friday the 13th: The Game, as well as Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle. The discontinuation of the 2017 Friday the 13th game by IllFonic was attributed to licensing disputes.

Dead by Daylight has previously added characters from other horror franchises, including Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Alien. According to Behaviour Interactive, the upcoming Friday the 13th DLC will remain available for purchase, unlike the previous Friday the 13th game which was removed from digital storefronts.

Availability

Dead by Daylight is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
