"The highlight for me will be when I can finally lay down tonight, because I'm so tired."
Katherine Legge became the sixth driver in history to attempt the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.
Indianapolis 500
Legge qualified for her fifth Indianapolis 500 but crashed on lap 17 after Ryan Hunter-Reay spun. She hit the inside wall and finished 33rd (last) after 42.5 miles.
Coca-Cola 600
She then flew to Charlotte Motor Speedway and drove the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet. In Stage 3, a right-front wheel detached, causing a caution. She finished 31st, 12 laps behind winner Daniel Suarez, completing 361 laps (541.5 miles total). Rain shortened the race by 27 laps.
Post-Race Statement
Legge said: "The highlight for me will be when I can finally lay down tonight, because I'm so tired. But the opportunity to attempt to do it is the highlight. We are gonna regroup and reflect to see what we could have done differently."
She noted that the car improved in the latter half of the race.
