William Norwood Jr., better known as Ray J, made his amateur mixed martial arts debut on Saturday at Brand Risk 14, facing DeWayne "Supa Hot Fire" Stevenson. The bout ended abruptly and decisively, with Norwood losing by knockout less than 30 seconds into the second round.
"We had a plan," Norwood said after the fight. "We lost money."
The first round saw an uncharacteristically aggressive Norwood take the initiative. He pressed forward and outworked Stevenson, who—curiously—did not throw a single punch and actively evaded engagement. The commentary team openly questioned the lack of action, noting the unusual dynamic.
The second round was a different story.
