"Fake and gay": Elon Musk’s blunt review of The Boys finale sparked a viral back-and-forth with show creator Eric Kripke.
Elon Musk slammed the series finale of The Boys on Friday, calling it “fake and gay” in a post on X. His comments came in response to a thread criticizing the show’s portrayal of the character Homelander as an analogue for former President Donald Trump.
Series creator Eric Kripke fired back with a one-liner: “I will never get a better review ever.”
Musk admitted he had not watched the show, but claimed Kripke wrote the finale “to appease his critics.” Kripke has long acknowledged that Homelander is intended as a metaphor for Trump.
The finale introduced a new character, “The Disruptor,” who wore a black-on-black embroidered hat and gave a monologue about space exploration and white fertility rates. Kripke confirmed this was a satirical reference to Musk.
Musk, the world’s richest person with a net worth of $817.1 billion as of Friday, has been a frequent target of The Boys’ political satire. The show has drawn criticism from some viewers for its perceived anti-right-wing bias, though Kripke describes the series as a broader critique of celebrity and authoritarianism.
