La Caverne: A Parisian Landmark Transformed
"A kind of unknown, of fear, of entering into a cave - and at the same time, a fascination."
— Artist JR
The historic Pont Neuf bridge in Paris has been temporarily transformed into a massive, inflatable cave. The installation, titled 'La Caverne' (French for "the cave"), was created by the renowned French artist Jene-René, who works under the pseudonym JR.
By the Numbers
The artwork is monumental in scale. It measures 120 meters in length and varies in height between 12 and 18 meters, completely enveloping the bridge's structure.
Artist's Vision
JR stated that he intended the piece to "juxtapose the rough and the wild with the refined elegance of Paris."
Schedule
The installation opened to the public on 6 June and is scheduled to run until 28 June, offering a limited window for visitors to experience this surreal fusion of nature and urban architecture.
